Library Time!

Ah! So, which much ado, I have finally collected all of the sources I will be using in expanding my essay. I decided to end up using two of Kayla's provided resources, including one that I (sadly) am not allowed to leave the library with without getting arrested. All is well! I shall take meticulous notes from it before I leave.

In other words, I believe I have met all of the requirements for the research. I will be using W;t itself as a reference, the film dictionary that I am not allowed to steal, an eBook on film adaptations, and two journal articles, one dated this year, I believe, and another dated 1987.

All in all, I think I have found some good sources to expand my work with! Some of them I did get pretty excited about. Again, thank you Kayla! Great help!

Checking In on Research

First off, I want to say thank you to Lizzi. The sources she found are helpful and she has really great ideas. I think I will be using a good number of the sources she provided.

I'm still thinking about what arguments will divide an educated audience for my thesis. I'm leaning toward the idea that while music does play a key role in showing character development, it's the silences that really give us the information we need about them.

I like the direction of focusing on music and using Wit as a supporting feature. I'm mulling over the idea of pulling in John Cage and 4'33" as another supporting example of the use of silence. I realized that I needed to go back to part of the film, near the end and analyze the use of the music particularly as the story reaches its climax. 

I'm still in the research phase and I've got a little more research still to do. By the end of tomorrow, I hope to be on to the paper writing full force. Mostly, though, I'm just glad to be writing about music.

It Would Probably Be a Good Idea to Actually REPORT My Research...

As I went through the list of source types that we would need as well as the sources Rebekah so kindly compiled for me, I found that I could use a lot of what she suggested. The sources suggested fit my thesis and arguments perfectly, and I could see a use for most of them. That being said, I went on the hunt for other sources I'd need as different types. I successfully found a single volume from an academic publisher that was also an ebook, and it will be of great use to me because it's about the science of loneliness and love. I do have to admit, finding a journal article from more than ten years ago was a bit difficult, but I found one eventually. I'll probably expand my paper to explore other roles in the allegory of the soul besides just the mother.
