East of Eden

I've been thinking about researching East of Eden by John Steinbeck. This epic novel is significant for the literary world and for Steinbeck himself--it is one of his most important works. For him, this was a novel to teach everything he had learned about morality and humanity. It is a bold allegory based on the classical Biblical story of Cain and Abel and is shown over several generations.
I don't know what specific topic I'm going to write about yet, though there some excellent themes about agency and morality and fascinating characters. I'll be thinking about that over the next few days.

  1. I totally thought of East of Eden too! It's a really great book. It's been a while since I read it though, so your stuff will help me remember and re-appreciate Steinbeck's genius ;) You could even do a direct comparison with Biblical quotes and verses if that's something you'd be interested in.
